About Suzy Fauria, LCSW

My work is intrinsically shaped by my life experience and by my own healing, both of which continue to expand my heart.

I view the mind, body and spirit as interconnected and equally important parts of our being and healing. At our core, I believe that we are magical and that psychological and physical harm — whether interpersonal, generational or systemic — pulls us away from our divine center. Additionally, I have found that bodily hierarchies and systems that uphold them are often the root of human suffering and ongoing wounding. Therefore, I see the body as the primary site of traumatic injury and I work to divest from systemic oppression in the therapeutic setting. I instead operate from an anti-racist, anti-carceral, womanist, queer and sex affirming lens and I incorporate somatic techniques in the healing process.

I am particularly passionate about using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) as my primary therapy modalities because they are non-pathologizing, spiritual, and simply transformative tools. I also believe that healing happens while in connection to others so I view the therapeutic relationship as a primary healer and as an offering to repair past relational harm. Lastly, I create space for creativity, joy, and laughter because these are some of the best healing tools.

I am a licensed clinical social worker, writer, true Pisces and a graduate from NYU Silver School of Social Work living in New Jersey. I have provided trauma-informed care to youth and adults for 10 years and consultation for organizations seeking to expand their racial justice lens. My practice is grounded in my lived experience as a biracial woman.

Liberation is our birthright; healing is our responsibility.
